Message |

Dear
Members and Friends of the Philadelphia Chapter:
This is it, my last presidents message. I cant
believe two years have passed so quickly. I have to say
that I have mixed feelings. This has been a very rewarding
position to hold. I recommend it to anyone who can make
the commitment. The more you are able to do, the more
rewarding it becomes. I am excited to have Renee Cooper
take over the reigns, and although we have accomplished
many of the goals I set with our executive team, there
is so much more that I would have liked to do. Thats
why I think Renee will enjoy her presidency with plenty
of help. I am committed to assist as Immediate Past President
and we have very dedicated women who have pledged their
commitment to our executive team. So as soon as she establishes
the goals she plans to attain for her presidency, Renee
has an excellent team to help her. See our Slate for 2009-2010
on page 3. We still have some important positions open
and will tap a few shoulders before our next meeting.
I hope some of you who havent held an executive
position will rise to the calling. Although student members
are not eligible for the executive positions, they are
certainly welcome to volunteer for a committee.
The final event of our fiscal year will be held on Wednesday,
June 17th at Bryn Mawr College. At this light fare reception,
we will:
- Network
with our Past Presidents, New Members and Guests.
- Conduct
a brief installation of officers and directors ceremony.
- Share
with new members and friends, special ASWA memories
experienced
with old friends.
- Continue
our tradition to raise funds for our chapter scholarship
through a silent auction of two free registrations
for the October Joint National Conference in Las Vegas
at the Palm Hotel, awarded by National for our increase
in membership this year through our Hit the
Jackpot Campaign. (These prizes are worth over
$ 500 each).
- Conduct
our raffle with some exciting prizes.
- Award
the prizes for the Mentor Program Achievement Contests.
We
encourage each of our members to bring to the meeting
pictures or any other memorabilia that you may have kept
that represent special memories of past ASWA events. If
you are unable to attend but would like to share such
memorabilia, send it to me with a note, I would appreciate
showing your memories. I will see that it is returned
to you in the same condition as you sent it.
I am truly looking forward to catching up again with our
old friends as well as introducing them to our newest
members. This meeting was extremely well received last
year and I hope that you will make it even better by joining
us to toast our New Executive Team!
I thank you all for making this two year term a delight.
And I wish the same for my
successors: Renee Cooper, Pam Wenner and Kathy Brunner.

to Members from President Elect Renee Cooper: |

I
wish to thank Lori for doing a marvelous job these past
two years. She has taken the Philadelphia Chapter of ASWA
to a whole new level and I hope that I can continue in
that vein. I am looking forward to my years as President
and thank everyone that has volunteered, to continue to
steer our organization forward. I hope we can continue
to expand our membership base and that we all benefit
from being members of ASWA. I know in this difficult time
we all need all the networking and support available to
us. I hope we all see ASWA as a resource in some way,
whether it be to help ourselves or those near and dear
to us. So I hope you join me on my journey as your President
and I look forward to this adventure.
Renee
